2 Paths with Common Goals

Both Programs Share:

  • Training content focused on the 3 functional roles of Boards:
Governance, Resource Development and Business Expertise.
  • Case studies and presentations by professionals working in the field; discussions and activities which complement the web-based learning.
  • Four hours of assigned, independent computer learning in addition to classroom sessions Following the training, candidates will complete a survey profile and become part of a pool of trained board candidates.

“On-Line” Path to Board Engagement:

♦  3 Tuesday classroom sessions: September 28, October 12 and October 26, 4:45 – 7 p.m. at the offices of the Fine Arts Fund, 20 East Central Parkway.
♦  Following the training, candidates will become part of the BOARDway Bound Board Bank. Profiles will be shared “on-line” with approved arts and culture organizations looking for board members.
♦  Fee: $200. Fees are typically underwritten by employer. Partial scholarships available.

“Hands-On” Path to Board Engagement:

♦  6 Tuesday classroom sessions: September 14, 4 – 7 p.m. at the Know Theatre; September 28, October 12, October 26 and November 9, 4:45 – 7 p.m.; and November 16, 4 – 7 p.m., all at the offices of the Fine Arts Fund.
♦  One of the sessions includes thirty, 60-second elevator speeches by leading arts execs followed by networking; another session allows you to “speed date” the same arts leadership to focus on organizations of interest.
♦  Training incorporates an “observership” component, allowing candidates to be matched with an appropriate organization and attend programs and board meetings, allowing both the candidate and the arts client to evaluate an opportunity for board placement.
♦  Fee: $400. Fees are typically underwritten by employer. Partial scholarships available.
