What We Wore to Sing and What Governor Strickland Said About Art
Over the last few weeks, your blogger took photos that illustrate the great variety and creativity in what we wear to art.
We've had a bit of a kerfuffle with the website and blog lately so we didn't get to post them all at the time.
Here's one set of pics from the May Festival closing night - a glorious evening with an intro from the Governor and everyone singing Hallelujah after a standing ovation that went on and on!
Governor Strickland said:
"How fortunate we are to have such a magical venue for the country’s premier choral festival right here in Cincinnati. As many of you may know, this music hall was built in 1878 specifically to house the May Festival’s performances.
This hall and the captivating performances throughout the festival represent the powerful impact the arts can have on a community. It’s amazing to see the added vibrancy this event brings to Cincinnati.
Events like the May Festival enhance the quality of our lives and encourage Ohio’s creative spirit and innovation. While this festival is America’s oldest choral festival it also is the driving force for Cincinnati’s modern musical life. Each year these talented performers bring together thousands of people from across the state and nation to share inspiring experiences and their sincere appreciation for music."
