What We Wore to Secret ArtWorks

Just before the Thanksgiving break, we went to see the Secret ArtWorks revealed at a party in the Westin Hotel. We got a little distracted by the wearable artworks, but managed to find some to time to enjoy sharing the exhibit with our friends too.

Even the hotel and our public square were dressed for the holidays. Here's what we wore.

What We Wore to Art - Dancing Swans

People from all over the region are coming together this weekend at the Aronoff Center and cheering for the many swans in Cincinnati Ballet's Swan Lake. The sets, the colors, the jumps....it's great to be part of that show. And...wow - that's visually arresting!

Here's what we were wearing.

Cincinnati was full of people all around tonite!

What We Wore to Art - Jay's Moving Party

We went to say goodbye and thank you to Jay Kalagayan. He's moving a few blocks from the Know (where he was founder and dreamer) to the dance place.

We didn't get to see all of the tributes -- but it must be said: Victoria Morgan is deliriously happy. (She is HI-sterical!)

What We Wore to Art -- New Works Dance

You gotta go gotta go gotta go see Our City Dancing. New Works in the dance practice room rocks with happy and amazing. It's ALL TOO WONDERFUL!!!

We started our evening on our public square with salsa dancing. Then we went up the street for all new dancing with live music and local musicians - Jake Speed & The Freddies, Over the Rhine, Peter Frampton, and Peter Adams. Our own Heather Britt rocked the place with her first time out putting the moves together for the dancers.

The dancers are backed up by artworks and photography of our Cincinnati scenes -- skyline, fountain, murals, architecture, and river.

This event is a celebration of our city's vibrancy! And the Cincinnati Ballet show is filled with the work of graduates of our local schools and colleges. Go see and share and celebrate our city.

What We Wore to Art - The Success Show

It was Final Friday in Cincinnati -- and we could not even find a place to park in Over-the-Rhine. That's an exciting sign of the vibrancy that the arts bring to our neighborhood. Maybe we need....more transportation options!

The Know Theatre was hosting a reprise of The Success Show from this summer's Fringe. Even on a late August night, they sold out twice for one show! (Eric V, aka Tod, will have to explain that to you - but it sounds good, huh?) We laughed a lot.

What We Wore to Art - Little Shop

Cincinnati has a lot going on....here are a few shots from Friday night with just a little of the arts all around town. We went to see Little Shop of Horrors -- Jersey Productions at the Aronoff Center. (Shout out to Max --- oooh we are so lucky to have incredibly talented students at our local universities!) After, we had a cocktail sitting on the outside sofa next door and then stopped to listen to the music on Fountain Square. We could have gone to Covedale, Covington, Over-the-Rhine, East Walnut Hills etc. It was a tough choice between all kinds of art options.

What We Wore to Art - The Best of Us

Friends know I've been enjoying my collaboration with a dressmaker -- Andrea (also called Ife)-- I was lucky to meet shortly after moving back to Cincinnati. Some months ago, she told me of her plan to produce an evening of music, dance, and cultural discussion about heritage. And as part of the show, she would join the African drummers and dancers herself -- and make dresses representing the cultures featured.

I've been looking forward to it and -- after one postponement last month -- we were fortunate to be there for "The Best of Us: An Evening of Beauty and Culture" at Club Elements Reggae Music Lounge in Roselawn.

These photos don't even begin to capture the impressive array of talent -- nor the overwhelming number of dresses that Andrea made for the show. Wow. We were seriously impressed.
