Who We Are

The mission of the Fine Arts Fund is to strengthen the arts for a greater Cincinnati through united fundraising, support services and the responsible investment and allocation of resources.

The oldest united arts fund in the United States, Charles P. and Anna Sinton Taft founded Fine Arts Fund as the Cincinnati Institute of Fine Arts in 1927. The Tafts left a legacy of support for the arts for future generations to enjoy, with the provision that the people of Cincinnati match it.

In addition to their gift, the Tafts donated their artwork and home, now the Taft Museum of Art to the city.

Over the years, Cincinnati has distinguished itself as a community that supports the arts, and it remains one of the few cities in the U.S. that is home to major arts organizations representing a full range of artistic expression. The Fine Arts Fund has been integral to advancing funding for these artistic institutions for over 80 years.

We ensure vital cultural opportunities for the residents of Greater Cincinnati by:

  • Providing a means to raise money for the arts in the workplace – creating a larger, more reliable source of funding for the arts.
  • Fostering arts excellence through support of regular programming and increased efforts in education and community outreach efforts.
  • Narrowing the gap between ticket prices/admission fees and the actual costs of producing programs.

DIVERSITY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

The Fine Arts Fund recognizes the importance of diversity as a business imperative and as an integral part of our core values. Inclusion helps the Fine Arts Fund to achieve its fundraising goals, broaden the technical support capabilities of the Arts Services Office, helps to engage and develop growing audiences, and expands our ability to meet the needs of all donors in the Greater Cincinnati area.

In order to advance diversity and inclusion in the arts, the Fine Arts Fund:

  • Encourages member organizations to become more inclusive through our allocations process.
  • Advises organizations on diversity strategies and how to achieve diversity goals.
  • Seeks to ensure broader support of arts organizations through our grants program.
  • Seeks to remove cultural and organizational barriers by increasing the cultural competency of our Board and staff through training and workshops.
